Our Vision Statement:

The Vision of YHAD-Tanzania is to empower the youth in Tanzania to achieve economic independence, political awareness and social responsibility.

 

Our Mission Statement:

The Mission of Advocacy Tanzania is to provide the tools and support necessary to make a positive difference in the lives of the youth and vulnerable children through inspirational, motivational and educational experiences, training and field practices. We strive to equip the youth with relevant knowledge and skills for personal, family and community improvement to foster sustainable development.

 

Our Motto: “Raise Oneself to Help Mankind”

We take on our individual responsibility to become leaders, not only to help ourselves grow, but more importantly, to help others and foster sustainable development for the entire global community.

 

Our Statement of Philosophy

YHAD-Tanzania maintains that the most important responsibility is living to help others while also improving oneself. We are inspired by our love to the pursuit of wisdom and happiness in helping others, to utilize our intellectual capacities and moral self-discipline to serve our community.

 

Our Values:

While striving to empower the youth and help vulnerable children, YHAD-Tanzania observes the following Values:

  • Moral excellence – the quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong
  • Rule of Law – a state of order in which events conform to the law
  • Transparency – the quality of allowing access to information sharing with all stakeholders
  • Accountability – the quality of being liable, responsible and answerable for the work done

  • Team Working – the cooperative effort of team members to achieve common goals
  • Humanity – the quality of compassion or consideration for others through kind deeds

 

Our Objectives:

The main objective is to support the youth and most vulnerable children to realize strategic improvement at every level in their livelihood. Advocacy Tanzania will achieve the main objective through specific goals as provided here-under:

a) To improve livelihoods: YHAD-Tanzania seeks to provide  support to the youth and most vulnerable children so as to enhance their access to educational facilities and other socioeconomic opportunities for self-reliance and sustainable development.

b) To build capacity: YHAD-Tanzania will enhance formation of self-help groups and train the youth to promote their knowledge and skills and increase their awareness on diverse socioeconomic, cultural and political issues such as entrepreneurship and investment, human rights, diseases, drug abuses, gender mainstreaming, civic education and environmental conservation.This seeks to enhance youth’s well-being, morality and morale.

c) To invest in various development projects/enterprises: YHAD-Tanzania will make purposeful and meaningful investments to create direct employment opportunities for the skilled youth, and generate more funds to meet the organization’s objectives, mission and vision.

d) To provide financial aid and support: YHAD-Tanzania aims to increase youth’s income, build their financial capacities and purchasing power.  The organization will seek funding such as aids and/or loans from relevant sources in order to support and enhance youth’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

e) To conduct countrywide empirical research on issues related to the youth, and enhance formation of self-help groups: YHAD-Tanzania will seek to reduce youth vulnerabilities through research-based solutions and youth self-help groups in order to facilitate and promote access to information, knowledge, skills, developmental services and socioeconomic opportunities.

 

Functions of YHAD-Tanzania

Pursuant to its objectives as envisioned herein-above, YHAD-Tanzania will carry out any or all of the activities enumerated here-under:

a) Conducting awareness meetings, seminars, workshops and training to disseminate information, knowledge and skills for capacity building and empowerment of the youth.

b) Creating and maintaining local and global communication networks, partnerships and friendships with various stakeholders for collaboration and support.

c) Carrying out public discussions and presentations through the news and mass media to address issues related to the youth, enhancing public understanding and support to solve problems confronting the youth in collaboration with other stakeholders.

d) Producing various research-based publications through magazines, newsletters, websites, posters and journals to disseminate information about youth related problems and concerns, seeking to achieve informed solutions.

e) Launching branches and sub-branches in all regions and districts of Tanzania, to easy nationwide supply of the organization’s services.

f) Conducting appropriate fundraising at local, regional, national and international levels aiming at acquiring funding and/or material supplies to support the youth and most vulnerable children confronting socioeconomic difficulties.

 

The Organizational Structure:

The precise organizational structure of YHAD-Tanzania is currently being developed and is expected to include the following:

  • Board of Directors with an Executive Committee
  • Sub-committees for specific subject areas
  • Board of Coordinators comprised of representatives from each programme area
  • Staff hired as funds are available according to a salary scale commensurate with NGOs of similar size and experience.
